10th Grade Planning

Meet with your counselor early in the year and go over your courses to make sure that you are on the right track for meeting your postsecondary goals.
Ask for information about National Honor Society, NH Scholars, and other organizations that will highlight your academic achievements.
Get involved through sports teams, clubs, and community service opportunities. Extracurricular activities are just as important to a well-rounded college resume.
Seek out employment and job shadow opportunities. This is a great way to begin to explore your career likes and dislikes.
Attend college fairs at your school or in your area. This is a great way to get a lot of information about all the different options!
Begin to have conversations with your counselors and parents about how you are going to pay for college and start saving now! The earlier you plan for the financial considerations the better off you’ll be when it’s time to apply for schools.
Create a format for your college resume so you can update it as you continue to get involved along the way.
Plan to play a sport in college? Begin to research NCAA guidelines and high school academic requirements. Ask your counselor for a copy of the College Planning Guide for Student Athletes
